Description
This is a SIGNED COPY of Vincent Price's beautiful beautiful cookbook "A Treasury of Great Recipes." The subtitle is "Famous Specialties of the World's Foremost Restaurants Adapted for the American Kitchen." This edition was copyrighted in 1965 and this is the second printing done in 1983. The publisher is G. P. Putnam's Sons, New York. ISBN 0-399-12837-9. More than 65 color illustrations. 488 pp. One of the greatest thing about this book is its ease of use. Each recipe has a personal note written by Mr. Price that gives an interesting fact or story about the recipe and the restaurant it was gleaned from. Ingredients are listed separately on the left of each recipe; each step of the recipe is numbered with clear instructions. The chapters are divided by countries: France, Italy, Holland, Scandinavia, England, Spain, Mexico, United States, and a few recipes entitled "Specialties of Our House." Mary Price, Vincent's first wife was a co-author on the book. Mr. Price includes a table of equivalents, calorie charts, favorite wines, and herbs and spices and weights and measures. (A personal note--I once had the great pleasure of having Mr. Price cook a full meal for me and a few business colleagues. This was about 25 years ago and I remember every course to this day. He was a fabulous chef in his own right.) Excellent Condition. The dust jacket has a few folds, a couple of tears, and the top and bottom spine edges are jagged. The hardcover book cover is really like new. On the pages he has left blank for favorite wines or recipes, I wrote down one favorite recipe of my own. And above his recipe for Konigsberger Klops (meatballs) (actually Luchow's recipe) I wrote in ink "just like Mom's." I also put a star next to the potato dumplings recipe on the opposite page. On one of the inside title pages Vincent autographed the book (see scan). Other than that the pages are clean. Thus far the book has escaped age toning. I accept Paypal (preferred), money orders, and checks. Postage and Handling for flat-rate priority mail (shirt box size) in U.S. is $9.30. Buyer should contact seller within 3 days of sale to acknowledge receipt of invoice). Payment is expected within 7 days of close of sale. The listing says shipping is $4.00 -- this is incorrect for the size priority package to be used. For priority medium, flat-rate box, it will be $9.30. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND GOOD LUCK.
