Description:   Woven embroidered silk bookmark in frame with handwritten inscription on the back dated 1877.  Colors are black, red, grey, and pale green.  Black wooden frame.  The bookmark reads: "TO MY DAUGHTER - At dawn of morn and close of day my prayers for thee ascend, that God may guard thee on thy way and ever prove thy friend; Oh may those prayers accepted be and all desired, obtain for thee."  On the back it reads: "Belsie (or Betsie) C. Ireland - Presented by her parents Joseph and Elizabeth Ireland on the occasion of her marriage - Muskegon Mich. Aug. 22nd 1877".  I found a reference to a Joseph Ireland in a Freemasons Monthly magazine dated 1873.  It referred to him as having presided as W.M. (meaning of W.M. is unknown to me). Measurements:   Frame: 14" X 5 3/4"; Bookmark: 10" X 2 1/8". Condition:   the bookmark appears pristine; a few knicks and paint losses to the frame.
