Description
Alcoholics Anonymous First Edition, 15th Printing, 1954 signed by Bill Wilson. I'm not an expert on books but the book is in fair shape in light of being old and not being kept under ideal conditions since 1954. Cover shows warping, pages yellowing, binding is loose but intact. The corners show wear and the outside of the book lacks patina or shine on one side but is better on the other side with some spots dull. If you're considering this book, you will probably know a lot more about describing the condition than I do. It's signed by Bill Wilson and I assume the BH/Nov 62 means Bedford Hills. It's signed for a "Jim" and was accompanied with the letter featured. I have been told by numerous Ebayers that James Willis was a co-founder of Gamblers Anonymous. I have had these items for over twenty years and they should stay together. The letter is addressed to James Willis. It comes with the book and has a wonderful personal message from Bill Wilson. The letter is postmarked October 3, 1969, New York, NY and I'm told Jim Willis he was one of the founders of GA. I personally have no knowledge of who the founder(s) of G.A. were and make no guarantee as to this; however, Bill's letter points in that direction. As in the photo, the letterhead reads W.G.W. Box 459 Grand Central Station New York, N.Y. 10017. Please see the customer question/answer space below regarding Bill's secretary, Nell Wing, having initialed the letter and Bill himself having signed it as well as comments regarding James Willis. The Table of Contents has the following personal stories lest you have trouble reading them in the photos: The Doctor's Nightmare; The Unbeliever; The European Drinker; A Feminine Victory; Our Southern Friend; A Business Man's Recovery; A Different Slant; Traveler, Editor, Scholar; The Back-Slider; Home Brewmeister; The Seventh Month Slip; My Wife and I; A Ward of the Probate Court; Riding The Rods; The Salesman; Fired Again; The Fearful One; Truth Freed Me!; Smile With Me, At Me; A Close Shave; Educated Agnostic; Another Prodigal Story; The Car Smasher; Hindsight; On His Way; An Alcoholic's Wife; An Artist's Concept; The Rolling Stone; and Now We Are Thousands. It's time for me to pass these historical items on. I wish I could afford to donate them to the AA archives or GA archives but I am not able to do so now. So I'm hoping they will end up with someone that will treasure and preserve them. Please email me with any questions and I'll do my best to answer accurately. Shipping to US only. I will pay for the shipping and insurance. Please provide an address that someone can sign for this as the insurance will require a signature. Payment via Paypal. Thank you for looking and thank you so much for all of your information, most of which is posted below. Good Luck if you're bidding and if you're buying, thank you.
